We believe sports are one of the most powerful tools for teaching life skills — responsibility, teamwork, resilience, and respect. When access is affordable and consistent, sports become a place where young people grow, not just compete.

Sozo Sports Complex began with a simple conversation over lunch between local founders — an idea sketched on a napkin about creating a place where sports could serve a deeper purpose.
That early sketch wasn’t about building a large facility or creating an elite program. It was about providing a safe, consistent place where young people could grow through sports, and where families could gather around shared values. From that small beginning, years of steady work followed to turn the idea into a nonprofit, community-owned sports complex rooted in the Yakima Valley.
The name Sozo, meaning safe place, reflects the founders’ original intent. Today, Sozo exists to build better humans and a stronger community through sports — by keeping participation accessible, prioritizing care, and creating environments where coaches, athletes, and families can thrive together.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a vendor?
In order for vendors to come to Sozo and sell at events, they need to fill out this vendor agreement form. Please download the file, fill out, and turn in to the Sozo office.

When do referees get paid?
Referees get paid every week, only if all needed documents are turned in (such as W-9 Direct deposit and or Cash App, Venmo).
We will need an email and phone number on the paper work.
*If you would like to change your form of payment, please fill out a new direct deposit form.*
How do I go about renting out Sozo for a special event?
To reserve a date you will need to fill out our Event Interest Form. Once the date is confirmed, there is a $1,000 deposit to finalize the reservation.
